Miniaturi textile 2013

Saptamana trecuta s-a deschis in Bucuresti, la Galeria Orizont, expozitia "Miniaturi Textile 2013".
Iata cateva imagini.

Patchwork Exhibition in Bucharest

Acum am incercat sa pictez, asa cum am simtit s-o fac, fara sa cunosc prea multe lucruri, fara sa urmez niste cursuri.

I am self-taught. Everything I learned in the field of textile art was by studying online and working with other artists. Follow blogs, tutorials, I subscribed to magazines or books I bought on the internet.

And of course .... experiment.

Now I tried to paint as I felt to do it, without knowing too much, not to follow some courses. Once I wanted to enroll in some courses in graphics, but a painter who saw some of my textile work, told me to follow my path.
I've never done this before, but I like it. I played with a crumpled sheet of printed paper (that I recycled it), I applied some acrylic colors and then some oil crayons and pencils.

I just wanted to achieve a texture that reminded me of liquid crystal textures that I have seen under the microscope when I deal with physics .... and went out. Optical textures of liquid crystals are fascinating, but of course can not be played exactly, can only be a source of inspiration.

Here are some
some details of what I did.

Scraps...

I love working with textile waste left after finishing the edges of works, or simply different textile scrap. They inspire me. I can do smaller works, ATC or textile cards.

A little twinchie

Last night I played a bit and I made a small twinchie, a textile miniature of 5cmx5cm.
On the worktable I had some leftovers that I wanted to throw, but I changed my mind. I glued them on a piece of fabric and I applied some stitching.
And as result this little item that I like very much.

Coaching...

Petra ne-a daruit tuturor participantelor niste panglici minunate.

What is coaching, especially for textile art? Coaching ... in Romanian it means guidance, training, lead someone to something concrete.
First time I used coaching to achieve some textile cards. At Patchwork and Textile Art exhibition organized in Craiova in 2010, by the Romanian Patch group , I met Petra. Petra gave all the participants some wonderful ribbons. Using these ribbons, I made a fabric card that went to Petra.Thank you very much Petra  for these ribbons. I created the other cards using ribbons. But I also wanted to apply something ... and I applied some threads by hand stitching to achieve a certain design ... that is coaching. But such work does not use only one technique, of course ... I did some free motion stitching with sewing machine, I added some beads, some painting, applique and more ...

Avalon, Soluvlies or Solufleece are names for a very versatile water-soluble material. He presents himself as a semi-transparent film with a very flexible consistency. In textile techniques are used as a stabilizer or support for special materials more difficult sewing (lace, knit, silk, yarn, velvet, and so on). It is used to make compositions and textures enriched with different decorative elements. After sewing, water-soluble film is dissolved in water and disappears.

I experienced Avalon in the idea of creating some textured surfaces for textile cards. I sat between two sheets of Avalon various pieces of fabric, yarn and so on, then I did some sewing normal stitching, then I removed Avalon by washing.
